BK_logo__tag_1_According to an article published by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), an estimated 62,488 pounds of meat products distributed in the U.S. are being recalled after harmful contaminants were found in on of the brand’s sample products.

Reports stated that several breakfast products of Minnesota-based Buddy’s Kitchen were potentially contaminated with listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The Food Safety and Inspection Service discovered the issue upon testing the raw ingredients of the affected products. FSIS findings concluded that the potatoes used in the products were contaminated. Any incidents of illness resulting from consuming the recalled products are unknown at this time.

Adults, pregnant women, babies, and individuals with poor immune systems may suffer serious bacterial infections that can be fatal from eating products contaminated with listeria monocytogenes bacteria. Additionally, according to the website of the the Oklahoma personal injury lawyers at the Abel Law Firm, serious emotional and financial difficulties can also result from product defects such as contaminated food.

Consumers who might still have any of the products that were recalled are advised to contact the product’s manufacturer or the FSIS for more information.
